Homewood Suites

The 131-room Homewood Suites, operated by General Hotels Corporation, is a standout example of how Viera’s signature warmth and hospitality can be woven into modern development. Located within a 115-acre mixed-use community, the property sits among an impressive collection of corporate offices, medical and professional buildings, waterfront dining venues, retail spaces, entertainment destinations, and multi-family residences. The hotel not only complements this vibrant environment but also enhances it, providing travelers with a welcoming home-away-from-home and giving the community another anchor for both business and leisure activity.

When Core Electric was brought into this project, the circumstances were far from typical. The original electrical contractor had stepped away mid-project, leaving crucial elements incomplete. This type of transition can be challenging for any large-scale construction effort, but for us, it was an opportunity to step in, take ownership, and demonstrate the value of our experience and commitment. We quickly assessed the work already completed, identified critical gaps, and developed a plan to ensure every electrical system would be finished on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards.

Our team took on the responsibility for completing all remaining electrical systems for the four-story, 131-suite hotel. This included high-efficiency LED lighting installation throughout the property. We believe in providing lighting solutions that are not only visually appealing but also sustainable, and the LED systems we installed deliver significant energy savings, reduced maintenance requirements, and superior illumination for guests and staff. From guest rooms and hallways to common areas and exterior spaces, every fixture was selected and commissioned with both function and ambiance in mind.

Power distribution was another critical element we brought to completion. We ensured that every branch circuit was properly installed, tested, and integrated into the hotel’s overall electrical infrastructure. Our work on the inverter backup system gave the property an extra layer of reliability, allowing essential systems to remain operational during any power disruption. This is particularly important in a hospitality environment where guest safety, comfort, and service continuity are top priorities.

We also handled the site lighting, which plays a vital role in the hotel’s appearance, security, and guest experience. Well-designed exterior lighting creates a warm and inviting atmosphere for arrivals after dark while improving safety in parking areas, walkways, and building entrances. We designed the system to be energy-efficient and low-maintenance, giving the hotel a solution that is both beautiful and cost-effective for the long term.

Another major part of our scope was the fire alarm conduit and system coordination. In a hospitality property of this size, an integrated and code-compliant fire alarm system is non-negotiable. We worked closely with the other trades and the fire safety vendor to ensure proper conduit routing, device placement, and system programming. Our goal was to give hotel management complete confidence in the system’s performance while meeting all applicable codes and safety regulations.

Elevator power and control wiring was also completed to strict NEC standards. These systems are essential to both guest convenience and ADA compliance, and any error in design or installation can cause operational delays and safety concerns. Our electricians handled the power and control integration with precision, coordinating with the elevator contractor to ensure seamless operation from day one.

One of the most challenging aspects of taking over a project midstream is working within the existing construction schedule while correcting any deficiencies left by the previous contractor. At Core Electric, we pride ourselves on being problem-solvers. We communicated openly with the general contractor, the client, and all other trades to maintain alignment and avoid costly delays. This collaborative approach allowed us to complete all required systems and deliver them fully operational and code-compliant.

When the project was finished, Hilton was able to open the Homewood Suites to guests right on schedule. Seeing the lights turn on for the first time, watching the elevators operate smoothly, and knowing that every outlet, switch, and safety system was working exactly as designed reinforced why we do what we do. Our role in this project was more than just installing wires and equipment—it was about restoring momentum, ensuring quality, and helping a flagship property open its doors to the public without compromise.

For us at Core Electric, projects like this are a testament to the importance of skill, adaptability, and teamwork in the electrical contracting industry. We take pride in being the team that can step into complex situations, resolve challenges, and still deliver an exceptional final product. Whether it’s a hotel, a commercial facility, or a specialized industrial site, our approach is always the same: understand the client’s needs, uphold the highest safety and quality standards, and execute with precision so the project succeeds.

The Homewood Suites in Viera now stands as a symbol of both the community’s growth and the expertise that Core Electric brings to every job. Guests checking in may not realize the complexity behind the walls, above the ceilings, and beneath the floors, but we do—and we know that the comfort, safety, and functionality they enjoy are the direct results of careful planning, skilled workmanship, and a dedication to excellence that defines who we are.
